Saturday 19th October , 1.30pm please come along to plant new lines on the peat scar.
This is the time of year when the ground is still a little warm from summer when we plant cotton grass plugs grown by volunteers from seed collected by other volunteers so it is always great when yet another set of volunteers complete the task.
The plugs planted last year did well with a very good survival of the winter frosts (the frozen ground can have them up onto the surface and reduce the survival rate). I cannot be precise about just how well they did as our Big Draw day became so enthusiastic that we lost count of what was planted! However when you are trying to change the colour of so large a canvas who is going to worry?
Please let me know if you are coming so I can make sure that there is plenty of tea!
